A CHURCH will launch a £150,000 restoration appeal at their Easter fair this weekend.

Holy Trinity Church, in Seaton Carew, will release balloons including those in the shape of doves symbolising the appeal’s theme On a Wing and a Prayer.

Parishioners and other visitors will then release their own balloons with prayers and messages attached.

The Reverend Paul Allison said: “It will be a spectacular start to our campaign. Please join us at around 11am if you can.”

The fair starts at 10am tomorrow and takes place in the parish centre at the church and will be full of stalls.

The church needs to raise the money to repair wings of the building which have suffered due to age, weather and local industry.

They plan to restore the building one wing at a time and have already raised £20,000 towards the work.

A series of events are planned including an art competition and a music concert.

A sand castle competition and teddy parachute jump are planned for the children to get involved.

Parishioners will also be invited to sponsor a stone in memory of a loved one or to mark a celebration like a wedding anniversary.

Donations will be displayed on a collage inside the church.
