Health check for dogs

AN animal charity is inviting dog owners to take their pooches for a health check-up later this month.

The People’s Dispensary for Sick Animals’ (PDSA) PetCheck vehicle will be in Hartlepool between Monday, October 15, and Friday, October 19.

The charity’s annual UK-wide PetCheck tour, which this year celebrates its 10th birthday, will be at the following locations from 10am-5pm:

Monday October 15 – Rift House Recreation Ground, Kingsley Avenue;

Tuesday October 16 – Seaton Carew Coach Park;

Wednesday October 17 – Thornhill Allotments, end of Thornhill Gardens;

Thursday October 18 – Summerhill Country Park;

Friday October 19 – King George V Playing Fields car park, Arkley Crescent.

At the checks, a PDSA nurse will examine the weight, body-shape, teeth, eyes, coat and general fitness of dogs and will also offer free advice about other pets.

Microchipping and nail clipping will be available at a low cost.

For safety reasons, only dogs can be taken along to the PetCheck vehicle.
