A KIND-HEARTED martial arts instructor has kick-started some fundraising activities for Tilly and hopes to raise enough money to send her on the holiday of her choice.

Charlie Featherstone, 46, met Tilly’s mum and sister, Michelle and Caitlin, when they went along to a martial arts session.

Charlie, who runs North East Tang Soo Do Family of Martial Arts and Fitness, based in the town, organises a charity event every year and this year wanted to support a local youngster.

Another group member told him about Tilly’s story and he spoke to Michelle to say he wanted to organise an event in support of the youngster.

That event will take place at Belle Vue Way Social Club, in Kendal Road, in the town, on Friday, May 25, from 7.30pm.

The evening will feature a live performance from rock band Dry Ice.

Charlie, who lives in the Rift House area of Hartlepool with wife Diane, 43, a Slimming World consultant, said: “We are really looking forward to the night and we have a few other things going on which will raise money as well.

“We don’t have a target of what we want to raise, just as much as possible.”

Tilly’s mum, Michelle, said: “I would like to say a big thanks to Charlie for organising the event, we are so grateful.”

Tickets, priced £3 can be bought on the door or in advance by calling Charlie on 07974169229.
