A fun video of Hartlepool health staff encouraging patients to avoid developing nasty bed sores has gone viral.

Staff on ward 26 at University Hospital of Hartlepool recorded the footage, using Tony Christie’s Is This the Way to Amarillo as the music to accompany it.

Shot in the style of the video created by comedian Peter Kay a number of years ago for Comic Relief, it has been viewed 33,000 times on the North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust Facebook page.

It has also been shared more than 650 times.

The aim of the video is to eliminate all avoidable pressure ulcers across the North East and the North Cumbria region.

During the collaborative, Ward 26 has had a reduction in pressure ulcers by over 50% and also reached 220 days without a new avoidable pressure ulcer.
