Health chiefs are appealing to mums to back a course on breastfeeding.

North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust is looking for women to join a 12-week course.

It will start in September and will be held on a Tuesday morning at The Star Children’s Centre on Bath Lane, Stockton.

Each session lasts two hours and there are crèche facilities available.

At the end of the course you will join our group of peer support volunteer and achieve a One Awards qualification.

Infant feeding lead at the trust Ros Nunn said: “Our peer supporters are fantastic.

“It’s all about giving women an informed choice so they know the benefits of breast feeding.

“Often when mums wish they could have breast fed for longer, we find that they just needed a bit more support or somebody to say you’re doing really well, keep going and you’ll get there in the end.”
