A nursing team will be running a conference to showcase an important set of National Health Service staff values which are known as the 6Cs.

The team from North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust will be part of the showcase conference on Wednesday, July 29 at Teesside University covering care, compassion, competence, communication, courage and commitment.

Since the launch of the 6Cs by NHS England, health trusts – including North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust – have signed up and many have rewritten their organisational strategy around the 6Cs.

Assistant director for nursing and professional standards Debbie Blackwood and senior nurses for professional standards Claire Wong and Louise Samuel have led the campaign.

Louise said: “It will be a fantastic chance to hear about the 6Cs, share learning and hear about how different organisations have helped embed the values of it to improve the patient and staff experience.”

Louise added: “As a team we have worked alongside staff across the trust and have seen how this has developed practice.”

Speakers at the conference include Andi Lothian, founder of Insights who are sponsoring the event.

They will also include the Teesside University programme director of pre-registration nursing Jill Foley.
