A RETIRING secretary will be sorely missed at “the heart” of a primary school.
Catherine Robinson, 60, has left Eldon Grove Primary School, in Hartlepool, after 16 years of working with teachers and pupils.
Acting headteacher Carole Bradley said: “She has given so much service and is liked by so many people.
“She really is the heart of the school”
“She will be sorely missed, but she is off to ventures new and we wish her all the best.
Catherine, from the Deer Park area of town, took the decision to retire after losing her husband, David, in December last year.
She now plans to travel, including seeing a friend in Australia and spending time on her canal boat in Lancashire.
Catherine, who is mum to Andrew, 36, and Iain, 32, said: “I will miss the school dreadfully. I will miss the children and the contact with everyone.
“I have made so many friends and I will definitely be keeping in touch.
“But life goes on and I’m excited to find out what is around the corner”.
Catherine has worked in various industries throughout her working life but has found education to be the most fulfilling job.
She will miss the stresses and strains of day-to-day work and is looking forward to relaxing, but will return to the school on a voluntary basis to enjoy trips out with the children.
Children took part in a special assembly on Friday, December 21, to thank Catherine and to wish her all the best for the future.
