SUNSEEKERS flocked to the seaside over the weekend as Hartlepool got its very own taste of the Med!
As thermometors rose to the high-70s, there were crowds of people along Seaton Carew all weekend, with healthy queues outside of the fish and chip shops and hundreds of people on the sands.
As temperatures soared, sunny Seaton was on a par with sunspots such as Nice, Palma and Capri.
There were similar scenes further up the East Durham coastline, with folks taking time out of a busy weekend of televised sport to catch the sunshine.
Collette Liddle, a supervisor at Young’s Fish and Chips shop on Seaton front, said: “It’s been a very busy weekend, we’ve had big queues on both days.
“It’s been non-stop, and it’s great to see so many many people heading down here when the weather is glorious.”
Wendy Hudson, who runs Cards R Hudson’s on The Front, said: “It’s always good news for us when the weather is like this.
“Seaton has been packed all weekend, the sunshine certainly brings people out and it gives us all a boost.
“It’s lovely to see traders doing well with queues out of the door.”
Experts predict that the summer sun will stick around for another few days, with temperatures forecast to remain in the 20s throughout the week.
Temperatures could reach as high as 26 degrees tomorrow, though the Met Office say there could be rain heading our way by the weekend.
