THE police helicopter was launched to help in the search for a missing child.

An eight-year-old boy was reported missing from the Rift House area of Hartlepool on Saturday lunchtime.

The Cleveland Police helicopter was scrambled to help with the search.

It was called off when the boy was found safe and well within an hour of being reported missing.

Meanwhile a man reported missing was found in the sea by police.

The 36-year-old man was reported missing at 2.45pm yesterday, but was found in the sea at North Gare near Seaton Carew at around 5pm.

The man was taken to the University Hospital of North Tees in Stockton for checks.

Hartlepool’s inshore lifeboat was launched, but was not needed when the man walked out of the water himself.
