Help and advice for job seekers

A HOST of free advice sessions are on offer to help people get a foot on the jobs ladder.

Hartlepool Borough Council's Jobsmart Team is running the sessions that are aimed at people who are either unemployed or at risk of redundancy.

There are Work Club sessions to give people one-to-one help, including job searches using the internet, advice on how to create a CV and complete job application forms and basic computer skills to help employment searches.

The qualified staff will also be able to refer people to suitable training, education and volunteering opportunities and to specialist support in areas such as debt counselling and confidence building.

The sessions start this week and will run until the end of March.

People can either drop in or pre-arranged appointments can be made by calling the numbers above.

Caron Auckland, project officer for Jobsmart, said: "There has never been such competition for jobs, so it's vital that people have all the right skills to find employment opportunities, write the best possible CV or application form and stand out at interview.
