RESIDENTS are being urged to help shape their local neighbourhood by getting involved in regular neighbourhood forum meetings.
Hartlepool Borough Council has recently revised its neighbourhood areas from three to two and the boundaries are identical to those used by Cleveland Police, ensuring there is a co-ordinated approach to tackling neighbourhood issues.
The North & Coastal area neighbourhood team covers the new borough wards of Headland and Harbour, De Bruce, Jesmond, Hart and Seaton while the South & Central team covers the new borough wards of Burn Valley, Foggy Furze, Fens & Rossmere, Manor House, Victoria and Rural West.
Neighbourhood Forum meetings are held quarterly and give residents the opportunity to ask questions about local issues affecting them, raise any concerns and to find out more about what is happening or planned for their area.
The next meetings are due to take place as follows:
l South & Central Neighbourhood Forum, on Wednesday, October 3 between 10am and 1pm in the Civic Centre, in Victoria Road.
l North & Coastal Neighbourhood Forum, on Wednesday, October 3 between 2pm and 5pm in the Civic Centre.
At the meetings there will be an update from Cleveland Fire Brigade, while police officers will also be on hand to answer any questions.
There will also be information about two council scrutiny investigations, one focussing on the environment and its impact on people’s well-being and the other looking at the help and support people need to prepare them for employment.
The North & Coastal forum is chaired by Labour councillor Mary Fleet and the South & Central forum by Labour councillor Kevin Cranney.
Coun Fleet said: “There is a wide range of services delivered by the council and the Police through neighbourhood teams and we want to hear the views of local people.”
Coun Cranney added: “This is a great opportunity for local residents to get involved and help influence their local neighbourhood.”
