A TEN-WEEK introductory cardiac rehabilitation exercise course has been launched.
The course, which is being offered by Hartlepool Borough Council’s Exercise for Life/GP Referral Scheme, began at the end of last month to coincide with National Heart Month but people can still enrol.
People wishing to take part must be referred by their GPs.
Co-ordinator Lorraine Harrison said: “You may recently have had a Healthy Heart Check at your doctor’s surgery and have been advised to increase your activity levels due to high blood pressure or high cholesterol.
“If so, this course is an ideal way to start to increase your activity levels.”
The weekly sessions take place on Mondays from 10.30am to 11.30am at Brierton Community Sports Centre, off Brierton Lane, in Hartlepool.
They are led by a nationally-qualified cardiac rehabilitation instructor.
Organisers say there is a weekly charge of £2.10 for Active Card holders, £1.70 for concessionary Active Card holders.
There is also a casual rate of £2.60 for non-Active Card holders.
For more information about the course people are asked to call Lorraine Harrison on (01429) 284363.
