HOSPICE chiefs have said a massive thank you to the thousands of people who provided them with a massive cash boost through donations.
The people of Hartlepool and its surrounding areas staggered Hospice bosses by organising 320 events in the last year alone – each designed to raise money for the charity.
It all resulted in £112,000 being raised for the Hartlepool and District Hospice through amounts ranging from £10 to £4,000.
Hospice chief executive Tracy Woodall said: “We would like to publicly say a huge thank you to all of our supporters for their impressive efforts over the last year.
“It costs £2.3m to run the hospice for a year and only 27.5 per cent of this is received from the Government.
“This gives our fundraising team a massive task every year to raise the remaining funds required and for this we use a combination of hospice events, Trust Fund applications, Lottery and our Hospice shops.
“On top of this we have many events organised by our local community and the proceeds donated from these events are a huge boost to our funds. All amounts raised, large or small, count.
“Some people may think that the odd £10 or £20 here or there does not make a difference; but we would like to say that every donation helps.
“Over the last 12 months donated events have raised amounts ranging from £10 to £4,000.”
Tracy added: “An event is successful in more than one way; as not only does it raise vital funds for the hospice, but it also reaches out into our local communities to make people more aware of what we do and the services we offer.”
She said the hospice was only able to offer its services free of charge “because of the fantastic support we receive from our local communities.”
