A MAN had a lucky escape after his house caught fire in the early hours.
A bedroom was severely damaged in the blaze, in Brafferton Street, Hartlepool, at around 2.30am today.
Two appliances from Stranton Station and one from the Headland Station raced to the scene.
When they arrived the man, believed to be in his early 20s, and his dog were outside.
The man was treated at the scene by paramedics and taken to the University Hospital of North Tees by ambulance.
Firefighters meanwhile carried on battling the blaze and spent around 45 minutes at the house.
The cause of the blaze is now under investigation.
