POLICE have launched an arson probe after an early morning house fire.
Fire crews from Stranton Station were called to a house in Stephen Street, Hartlepool, at about 1.40am on Friday, July 29.
Officers investigating the case have confirmed the fire, which caused severe damage to the lounge, is being treated as suspicious and they have appealed for witnesses.
There was no-one inside the house at the time of the blaze.
An investigation has revealed that the fire started in the living room.
A Cleveland Police spokeswoman said: “We want to speak with anyone who may have seen anything or who may have any information into the incident.”
