HARTLEPOOL United fans were last night urged to help police in their search for racist yobs who marred a recent match.

As previously reported in the Mail, Shrewsbury Town players Marvin Morgan and Jermaine Grandison were both subjected to racist abuse from the terraces in the 2-2 draw between their club and Pools at The Vic on September 22.

Ahead of last night’s game with Sheffield United, fans entering the Mill House side of the ground – where the abuse was shouted from – were handed leaflets printed by the club urging them to help police identify the offenders.

An investigation was launched after the Shrewsbury game involving both clubs, the police and the Football Association.

There were no incidents of disorder at last night’s game, which ended in heartache for Pools as the visitors scored a last-gasp goal to secure a 2-1 win in front of 4,027 fans.
