HARTLEPOOL’S very own Terminator stuck to the words of the movie character when he returned to take part in a celebration of science fiction.
Ian Wardrobe, 50, has been portraying Arnold Schwarzenegger’s robot hero for 20 years but stopped when he became a dad.
But he followed Arnie’s famous “I’ll be back” catchline from The Terminator movie series when he dusted off his shades and leather jacket as superheroes and supervillains gathered on Wearside.
Hundreds of fans, some kitted out in Star Wars, Judge Dredd and Ghost Rider outfits, descended on the Seaburn Centre for the popular Scifair collectors’ event.
Ian said: “I have been doing it one and off for the last 20 years or so.
“I stopped when the kids were born but I’ve got back into it.”
Crowds were entertained by sci-fi, comics and fantasy fans in a range of costumes, from Star Wards Ewoks and Stormtroopers to the Tenth Doctor Who.
Organiser Keith Lawler said: “It has been brilliant. This is our third time here at the Seaburn Centre and we have got another three events planned through to the end of the year, as well as in South Shields and Hebburn.”
