A MAN has been banned from getting behind the wheel for a year after being caught driving illegally.
Michael Emmerson was stopped driving a Ford Ka in Victoria Road, Hartlepool, and when officers checked records they discovered he was driving illegally previously.
The 38-year-old appeared at Hartlepool Magistrates’ Court and pleaded guilty to driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence and driving without insurance on June 6.
Emmerson, of Rydal Street, off Elwick Road, Hartlepool, represented himself in court but did not want to say anything in mitigation about the offences to the magistrates.
Chairman of the bench Patricia Hutchison disqualified him from driving for 12 months, fined him £110 and ordered him to pay a £15 victim surcharge.
