ANIMAL-LOVERS have the chance to enjoy a fun dog show which is being held at the weekend.
Hartlepool Dog Club is running the Puppy Loving Fun Dog Show on Sunday.
There are a string of categories including for the dog with the waggiest tail, the dog with the most appealing eyes, the most handsome dog, the prettiest bitch and the best puppy. Entry is £1 per dog.
This show is to raise awareness of the club new class on a Sunday afternoon from 2pm until 4pm at The Scout Hall in Stockton Road, Hartlepool.
The event will also feature a performance by the Crufts Flyball Team from Teesside which will demonstrate the relay race in which the dogs race over four hurdles to retrieve a ball from a specially-designed flyball box.
The dog must press the pedal on the front of the box in order to activate the trigger mechanism that releases the ball. When the ball springs out of the box the dog catches the ball and brings it back to its handler returning back over the four hurdles.
Organisers say the dogs will be judged by former councillor Allison Lilley, a good friend of the dog club and a great dog lover.
A dog club spokesman said: “We are also will be having a demonstration from the Crufts flyball team from Teesside this is a sport for all breeds of dogs and one that the dog club would like to start up in the near future. Our own dog whisperer Dave Shaw will be the host and will also be happy to talk with anyone that may need his help with their dog’s training problems.”
Mr Shaw has been working and training dogs for 30 years in obedience, working trials and agility. He is a championship accredited judge for obedience by the Kennel Club and a member of the Kennel Club’s Accreditation Scheme for Instructors in Dog Training and Canine Behaviour and also his club is also a Listed Club for The Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme.
