A DANCING starlet has landed a string of titles in an astonishing 11 months of competition progress.

Hartlepool youngster Isobel Dixon may still be only five years old but she has stormed through the ranks to reach the grand finals of a national tournament.

And before that, she amazed everyone by lifting title after title at local and regional level.

Today, proud mum Nicci Dixon, 36, from the Grange Road area of Hartlepool, said: “Isobel deserves everything she has achieved because she is so dedicated and works very hard.

“She has been with a dance school for two years. She lives and breathes dancing.”

Isobel, who is a student at the Watson Academy of Dance in Hartlepool, started her impressive run last October at a local level.

She won both the song and dance, and the tap sections at a dance school competition held at Manor School in Hartlepool. She was also runner-up in the aggregate score for the overall contest.

But that was just the start of bigger things to come. Her next success came at the annual Easter competition held at the Town Hall Theatre in Raby Road, Hartlepool.

Nicci, who works as a deputy homes manager for a children’s residential home, said: “She won nearly everything she entered. She got the highest mark for her section as well as the overall aggregate.”

Isobel, who has a ten-year-old sister Abbie who also dances for the Watson Academy of Dance, made her next appearance at a holiday camp in North Wales.

“She won numerous trophies at that one,” said her mum who is married to Tony Dixon, 43, an arboricultural officer with Hartlepool Borough Council.

Two weeks ago, Isobel dance her way to two aggregate victories in a competition at the Southlands Centre in Middlesbrough. She also qualified for a supreme British championship in Blackpool where she placed third against girls who were six years older than her.

Nicci said: “Isobel has been dancing since she was three. We look at her trophy shelf and it is suddenly very full. She is only five but she has already achieved a lot .”

“But she deserves it because she is very dedicated. She goes to dancing five days a week.”
