A TOWN theatre is hosting two shows to keep youngsters entertained during the half-term holidays.
The Town Hall Theatre, in Raby Road, Hartlepool, is putting on two shows for children on Monday, April 2, combining storytelling and puppetry to tell two mesmerising tales.
Greek Myths For Kids, which is at 11am, whisks youngsters on a journey through some of the best-loved Greek legends – from the Gorgon’s lair to the heights of Mount Olympus, soaring above the clouds with Pegasus and battling the fearsome Minotaur.
Produced by Backhand Theatre, the show was originally created for the 2010 Edinburgh Fringe. Playing to over 1,000 children at the event, the show was a resounding success and has continued to delight young audiences across the country.
‘The Velveteen Rabbit’, which gets underway at 3pm, uses puppetry, poetry and physical theatre to bring to life the literary classic by Margery Williams of how a toy was loved so much that he became real.
Lesley Todd, of Hartlepool Borough Council’s cultural services section, said: “These marvellous stories are brought to life using stunning puppetry which encourages children to believe in the magic of the tales, leaving the youngsters with a memory of their theatre visit which they will treasure as much as the stories themselves.”
Each show costs £5 per person and is suitable for ages four-11. To book call the box office on (01429) 890000.
