Are regulations for private landlords tough enough?
A landlord licensing scheme which aims to improve housing conditions and tackle anti-social behaviour could be rolled out in other areas.
Hartlepool Borough Council’s cabinet committee approved plans to go out to consultation on proposals to include nine more areas in the selective licensing scheme for private landlords to make them more accountable.
The scheme, launched in 2008, is supported by Hartlepool New Deal for Communities. It aims to improve conditions, tackle anti-social behaviour and reduce the number of empty properties.
