Should the coronary care unit and emergency assessment ward at the University Hospital of Hartlepool be merged?

More concerns have been raised about the future of a hospital after changes to a heart ward were revealed.

The coronary care unit at the University Hospital of Hartlepool is to merge with the hospital’s emergency assessment ward when the accident and emergency unit closes next month.

Bosses at North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust, which runs the Holdforth Road hospital, say the move is in line with hospitals across the country and it will ensure patients get the right care.
