Do you think CCTV cameras help to cut crime?

HARTLEPOOL Borough Council spent more than £250,000 on its eye in the sky system over a four-year period, new figures reveal.

The local authority spent a total of £251,602 on installing, maintaining and monitoring the town’s network of CCTV cameras between 2007 and 2011.

The figures were released by the privacy and civil liberties campaign group Big Brother Watch.
