Jaw broken in ‘pub attack’

A MAN was left with a broken jaw after an alleged pub attack.

The victim, in his 20s, was hurt following an incident at The Shoulder of Mutton pub, in Easington Village.

Police say the man, from Easington Colliery, also lost his two front teeth during the attack and could lose a further six to eight teeth depending on dental assessments.

The incident is said to have happened at around 11.30pm on Friday in the foyer area of the pub, in Low Row.

Detectives say they are particularly keen to speak to a number of people who are seen on CCTV footage to give first aid to the victim, who was taken by ambulance to Sunderland Royal Hospital.

He spent three days in hospital before being released.

Two men, one in their early 20s and one in his mid-30s, from the Sunderland area, have been bailed in connection with the incident.

Anyone with information about the incident is urged to call Detective Constable John Woodhall, of Peterlee CID, on 0345 6060365 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
