A TWO-YEAR charity campaign has raised tens of thousands of pounds to help cancer sufferers.

Hartlepool & District Hospice staff are celebrating the results of a hugely successful two-year charity partnership with JDR Cables, who pulled out all the stops to raise an incredible £24,437 for the charity.

JDR staff voted and nominated the hospice as their 2013 charity of the year and then again in 2014, even though the company usually adopts a different charity each year.

Throughout the two-year term, the team at JDR raised funds through a variety of events and initiatives including two spectacular sell out summer balls, a sponsored Hadrian’s Wall walk, a cycle ride, the river rat race, raffles and numerous staff members taking part in the Great North Run.

Hospice corporate fundraiser Carol Sennett said: “We were delighted to be nominated as JDR’s chosen charity for 2013 and totally overwhelmed to be given the unusual privilege of being invited back for a second year.

“The team at JDR are like a family; we have worked closely with them over the two years and we have made some great friends. It has been an absolute pleasure to meet such warm and generous people and I would like to wish all at JDR every success for the future.”

Mandy Mariner, from JDR, added: “We are thrilled with our fundraising total; the team here really pulled together and the results speak for themselves.

“I would like to thank everyone who helped make all of our projects so enjoyable and successful. The hospice is a wonderful charity that is dear to so many people in Hartlepool, including JDR staff and we are glad to have been able to show our support.

“The huge amount of goodwill towards their valuable work is evident in the fact that they were nominated by staff for two consecutive years and we have really enjoyed playing our part in their story.”
