Jessica scoops fashion contest

A STUNNING teenager stormed an internet voting competition to scoop a clothing store’s “fashion role model” title.
Jessica Martin, from Hartlepool, had simply gone for an afternoon of shopping with a friend to Topshop, in the MetroCentre, but ended up winning the shop’s Fashion Role Model contest with 500 votes, 200 more than the runner up.
The 17-year-old, from the town’s High Throston area – who scooped a £50 gift card and had her picture on the store’s Facebook page – said: “I was shocked but happy that people had voted for me. I’m normally quite a shy person so it feels a bit weird to have won something like this!”
Jessica said she and her pal were approached by Topshop staff on Saturday who asked to take their pictures for the competition, which was being held to mark its refurbishment, along with other girls in the outlet.
The Cleveland College of Art and Design student reluctantly agreed.
But to her surprise she was selected out of all the young women who had been snapped that day to be added to the MetroCentre Topshop’s Facebook page for voting.
Jessica, who was wearing wet-look leggings, a mint-collared shirt and a black-and-white jumper, received the most votes out of the 16 girls in the line-up and won.
