A sporting impresario is looking forward to his next event that will see one of the Britain’s most successful boxers visit Hartlepool.
Nathan Greathead is bringing a former world champion boxer to Hartlepool when he stages ‘An evening with Joe Calzaghe’.
The Welshman, who retired in 2009 with an undefeated record and as a reigning world champion, will be at the Corporation Club on Saturday, October 17.
Calzaghe is the fourth British world champ Nathan has brought to the town as a dinner event.
Both the visits of Frank Bruno and Ricky Hatton were sell-out events at the Whitby Street venue with the visit of Nigel Benn to the Staincliffe Hotel also well supported.
Calzaghe is rated as one of the best British boxers of all time and then lifted his profile and popularity further by appearing on the Strictly Come Dancing series on BBC.
“Everyone loves Joe Calzaghe, don’t they?” said Nathan.
“He was an unbeaten British star and won countless world title fights.
“He was a massive name in the boxing industry and still is. Joe is a big name on the after-dinner speaking scene and I’m excited to bring him here.
“I’ve spoken with Joe and he told me he couldn’t wait to come to Hartlepool.
“Hopefully, it will be another sell-out crowd.”
Nathan set up his business after being encouraged by his mum Denise Breward to put his love of boxing into good use. For tickets, costing £65, call Nathan on 07951 725223.
