A GROUP set up especially for the entertainment of youngsters is appealing for new members.
Kids United is an organisation which meets each Friday during term time from 6pm until 7pm.
The popular organisation, which is held in St Luke’s Church Parish Centre, in Tunstall Avenue, Hartlepool, has recently had a few of its older children move up to its youth group.
And that means there are some sought-after spaces available for six to 10-year-olds who love to have fun.
The group is run by six volunteers who are always on hand to help the children have fun, get messy and make friends.
During the summer the youngsters learned all about one of their favourite foods – chocolate.
And after finding out all there is to know about the sweet stuff, the group set about creating a sticky reminder of the topic.
This came in the form of a display which was decorated with dozens of little hands which had been dunked into chocolate and then printed onto the paper.
Jenni Shaw, who runs Kids United, then decided to include a topic on sports.
So, the youngsters had a great time learning all about different sports which they all thoroughly enjoyed, and then took part in their very own mini sports day.
This was a great fun activity for the children, which helped them to build their confidence and team-building skills to boot.
Jenni said: “We do all kind of activities.
“For example in the summer term we learnt about chocolate and finished by creating a display-board decorated with chocolate hand prints.
“We then went on to look into sports and ended it with a mini sports day.”
She added: “As it is a new term some of our older children have moved up to the youth group. Places are available for new members.”
