RESIDENTS are delighted after an enviromental project improved an area of their estate.
An area was turned from grass to to hardstanding after the residents of Pembroke Close, Peterlee, were consulted by the East Durham Homes’ customer involvement team, technical team and the East Durham Area Action Partnership (EDAAP) about what would make a difference in their community.
The project made the outdoor communal area easily accesible and easier to install washing lines, as well as improving the look and helping prevent anti-social behaviour.
Resident Clifford Hewitt said: “There is no doubt about it. This is a great improvement and it feels more secure.”
Paul Mains, East Durham Homes’ interim chief executive, said: “This project is an excellent example of inter-team and partnership working. Liason between customers and staff before work proceeded was invaluable is ensuring the end result was going to really make a marked improvement.”
