A COLLEGE student is set to compete in the prestigious English Schools’ finals

East Durham College sport studies student Chloe Price won a gold medal at the recent Durham County Championships and will now go on to compete at the national finals.

Chloe, 18, from Easington, comfortably took first place in the under-18s 1500m, well ahead of the second placed athlete.

She will now travel to Birmingham’s Alexander Stadium to compete on July 5 and 6 to take on the best in the country.

Chloe said: “I was really happy with my performance at the County Championships and ended up with a really decent time.

“I’ve worked really hard over the last year and it’s fantastic just to have an opportunity to go to the nationals.”

The Durham City runner is in her final year at the college before she goes on to continue her studies at Durham University where she will continue to run at the British universities level.
And Chloe believes that she can finish her time at the senior girls level by picking up a medal.

Chloe added: “I am feeling really good right now and I am still training hard for the race in Birmingham. I really believe that I have a good chance of finishing on the podium.”
