WHAT A tough task that was. That was the opinion of the Best of Hartlepool judges who had the unenviable job of drawing up a shortlist from the scores of top-class nominations.

The panel met to whittle down the field in this year’s competition.

And, while they came up with some fantastic finalists, they all agreed that every entrant was a worthy contender who each deserved recognition.

More than a dozen category winners were chosen, representing the very best that Hartlepool has to offer

The Hartlepool Mail’s managing editor Gavin Foster said: “Each year, I am impressed with how caring and selfless the people of Hartlepool are.

“This is a town full of community champions, unsung heroes and people showing excellence in all aspects of town life.

“The awards night itself promises to be a wonderful occasion.”

Gemma Borthwick, sales and marketing manager for main sponsors Niramax, said: “As always, it has been a pleasure to be involved in this competition and there are some really moving stories behind the nominations.

“It goes to show that Hartlepool is a town where people care about their communities, and that shows in the standard of entries received. It has been a privilege to be part of this.”

Lynn added: “This was no easy task to choose a winner in any of the categories. There is such a passion, talent and commitment in Hartlepool which shows through the public’s continued support for the competition.

“Thank you to everyone who nominated their community heroes. You have helped to reward some truly outstanding people and give them the recognition they truly deserve.”
