Keeping it in the family at Hartlepool festival

Hundreds of food and music lovers rocked out in Hartlepool yesterday.

Hartlepool band The Jar Family’s ‘We Are Family’ festival saw 15 local artists and bands take to the stage at Jackson’s Landing.

The event featured a range of special guest performances, as well as street food vendors attending.

Acts such as indie rock band Frankie & the Hearstrings and Northern funk duo Smoove & Turrell were amon g those taking part, while refreshemtns came courtesy of the likes Wylam Brewery’s award-winning craft beers and Fat Hippo’s Northumbrian beef burgers.

In keeping with the name of the festival, the Jar Family distributed hundreds of free tickets to families across the town who had been hit by illness, financial difficulty, disability or bereavement.

Dali, from the band, said: “Most of us have families of our own and know things can get tough sometimes, so this is a nice way of putting a few smiles back on some faces.

The Jar Family hope to make We Are Family an annuel event.

“We really want the town to get behind this so we can host one every year,” said Dali.
