A WITNESS is being sought to an alleged laptop computer robbery after two men appeared in court charged with theft.
A 54-year-old woman was heading along Hart Lane, between Hopps Street and Jobson Street, in Hartlepool, when her laptop is said to have been swiped at 2.40pm.
Two town men have since been charged with robbery on Saturday, January 15, and have appeared at Hartlepool Magistrates' Court.
Philip Hewitson, 30, of Rodney Street, and Martin Casey, 26, of Warren Road, were both remanded in custody to appear at Teesside Crown Court on January 20.
But police are still making inquiries into the incident and want to speak to a man who stopped at the scene of the suspected crime.
A Cleveland Police spokeswoman said: "Following the alleged incident, a man spoke to both the victim and officers and was helpful at the scene. It is believed that this man may have witnessed the alleged incident taking place.
"Officers would like to speak with this member of the public."
The man is described as white, middle aged, and was wearing a hands-free mobile phone device on his ear. He had been driving a green Citroen Picasso.
He is asked to contact Detective Constable John Johnson, of Hartlepool CID, on (01642) 302178.
