BUDDING snappers have a few days left before the deadline for a photographic competition.
Youngsters aged from six to 16 have the chance to show off their photography skills and enter a library competition.
Headland Library, in Middlegate, Hartlepool, organised its photographic contest last month and is reminding youngsters to send their entries in.
There is no theme and photographs can be of anything.
Once all entries are in, the photographs will be put up in the library on display before judges decide the winners.
There are two categories. One for youngsters aged from six to 10 years and another for 11 to 16-year-olds.
Headland library officer Josephine Bonner said: “Photography does tend to be popular with youngsters so we thought it would be a nice idea to give them a chance to show off their skills.
“We are hoping we get a last-minute influx of entries this week.
“I’m looking forward to seeing all of the photographs.”
The deadline for entries is this Saturday.
It’s proving to be a busy week at the library. Youngsters were in for a fright as they enjoyed a Halloween craft session this morning and children will be setting sail for the high seas at another themed session, to be held on Friday.
A pirate party will take place at the library from 2pm and is aimed at children under five years old.
Josephine, 47, a mum of one who lives in the Fens area of Hartlepool with husband, Derek, 61, a retired firefighter, added: “Our themed sessions do normally prove popular.
“We have never had a pirate party before and I think it will be really good. The youngsters can enjoy pirate-themed stories and crafts and we will be singing sea-themed songs.”
Other events at the library include a coffee morning which goes ahead every Friday from 10am-1pm.
People can also enjoy a game of scrabble when a board is set up in the reading room every Tuesday and Friday from 10am-1pm and 2pm-6pm, and a Saturday from 10am-1pm.
