LATEST NEWS: Revellers attacked by gang

THREE revellers were chased and then attacked by a trio of thugs who had asked them for a cigarette.

One of the victims suffered a broken nose in the assault while his two pals escaped with minor injuries.

Cleveland Police appealed for witnesses to the incident and urged anyone who knows the perpetrators to come forward.

The three victims – all aged 18-years-old – had left Lloyds Bar, in Church Square, Hartlepool, at around 12.10am on Friday, July 6, when they were approached by the other three men who asked for a cigarette

A row took place before one of the victims was assaulted.

Police say all three victims then ran off with the suspects following them before they were again attacked near to the subway entrance at Stockton Street.

The suspects then made off across the car park of Hartlepool College of Further Education.

One of the perpetrators is described as being white, aged around 17 to 20-years-old, about 5ft 10ins tall to 5ft 11ins tall, of average build, clean shaven, with blond short hair and was wearing a short-sleeved white T-shirt.

Another of the suspects was between 5ft 11ins and 6ft 1in tall, of stocky build and was wearing a blue hooded top.
