A TYRE in the middle of a busy dual carriageway is believed to have been the cause of a three-vehicle collision.
Emergency services were called after a crash involving a yellow Foden truck, a silver Vauxhall Vectra and a white Ford Fiesta, on the A689, on the outskirts of Hartlepool.
The incident, near Sappers Corner at Greatham, happened just before 8am today, on the southbound carriageway.
The motorists involved escaped without injury.
A Cleveland Police spokeswoman said: “The incident happened just before 8am on the A689, on the southbound carriageway adjacent to the roadworks on the northbound side. “There was a tyre in the middle of the road and one vehicle collided with the tyre and the other two collided with each other.”
The road remained open throughout the police’s attendance.
