Laughter fans have another clutch of great gigs coming up thanks to a new season of a Hartlepool comedy club.
The Hot Potato Comedy Club is ready to wow audiences at the Town Hall Theatre in Raby Road.
It has revealed monthly performances for February, March and April and Peter Vincent, of promoters Ten Feet Tall, said: “We can’t wait to get cracking.”
Organisers of the shows have described the forthcoming gigs as a winning mix of familiar television faces and some of the best comics on the circuit heading for town.
The new season kicks off on Saturday, February 27, with Matt Reed as host and Andy Robinson, Larry Dean and Amy Gledhill also on the bill.
Peter added: “Matt Reed gets us off to a flying start in February, and he has a great line-up to play with. Andy Robinson is a real legend on the circuit and a popular support for the likes of Jo Brand, Sean Lock and Rich Hall. And Larry Dean was nominated as best newcomer at Edinburgh last summer and has already supported Eddie Izzard on tour.”
The next show will be on Saturday, March 26, with Danny McLoughlin hosting a line-up of Seymour Mace, Geoff Norcott and Simon Wozniak.
Seymour has been nominated for awards in Edinburgh, while Geoff Norcott has supported Sarah Millican and “was a YouTube smash with Rory Mcilroy not so long back,” said Peter.
On Saturday, April 30, the Hot Potato Comedy Club will have Andrew Bird, Jamali Maddix and Julian Lee on the bill with a special guest master of ceremonies.
Peter said: “ Andrew Bird is a popular support for the likes of Rhod Gilbert and Jon Richardson, and Jamali Maddix enjoyed a storming debut telly gig on The John Bishop Show last year.’’
All the shows start at 8pm and tickets are £9 or £7 on the early bird scheme which is available up to a week in advance of the show. Tickets are available from Hartlepool Tourist Information Centre in Church Square, by contacting (01429) 890000, and online at www.destinationhartlepool.com
