POLICE are investigating after a suspected lead theft saw a ceiling collapse due to flooding.
Peterlee CID's burglary squad are looking into an incident at a house in Eleventh Street, in Horden.
A crew from Peterlee Fire Station was called to the property around 3.15pm on Monday by the occupant who reported flooding after pipes had been ripped out of his upstairs boiler.
A station spokesman said the ceiling had caved into the living room, which was under a couple of inches of water.
A spokeswoman for Peterlee CID said they were aware of the incident and were due to speak to the occupant.
