CIVIC leaders raised more than £200 for charities at an annual event.

Councillor Stephen Akers-Belcher, Hartlepool Borough Council chairman, joined civic leaders for Peterlee Town Council’s Mayoress at Home event.

Councillor Bob Kyle, the Mayor of Peterlee, welcomed the visitors to the banqueting suite at Shotton Hall, in Peterlee, where they enjoyed a sandwich lunch and entertainment provided by a saxophonist.

Those present also took part in a raffle helping to raise money for the Mayor’s chosen charities.

More than £200 was raised which will be added to money raised throughout the year and handed over to charities including Help for Heroes, Royal National Lifeboat Association and the North East Air Ambulance.

Councillor Kyle said: “The day went very well.

“Everybody enjoyed it and the entertainment was excellent.

“It’s always good to raise money for charity and this money will be added to the total for the worthy causes we support.”
