THERE is still time for people to sign up to learn the skills of cricket on a new course.

The six-week course, called Begin 2 Cricket, is being run by Hartlepool Borough Council’s sport and physical activity team in partnership with Seaton Carew Cricket Club.

It is open to men and women aged 16 and over and will take place on Wednesdays from 6pm to 7pm at the club.

It was due to start on July 11, but due to the recent poor weather conditions that start date has been put back to July 25.

Rachael Pringle, the council’s sport and physical activity officer, said: “This is a great course for people who either want to try cricket for the first time or are keen to get back into the game after some time away from it.

“As well as covering the techniques and rules, we will also be organising some friendly matches so that people can put their new skills to the test.”

The course costs a total of £15 per person and places must be booked in advance by calling (01429) 284414 or emailing: sport.recreation@hartlepool.gov.uk
