LEGAL eagles gathered at a glittering dinner to help raise cash for a much-loved town charity.
Legal dignitaries and their guests gathered at the prestigious Tees Valley Law Society Annual Dinner, which was held at The Thistle Hotel, in Middlesbrough, last month.
And as the wine flowed, Hartlepool & District Hospice were boosted to the tune of more than £2,000 thanks to a corporate partnership.
Phil Mitchell, President of the Law Society and a Partner with DMA Law Solicitors based in Hartlepool, had named the Wells Avenue-based hospice as his charity of choice.
The dinner was well attended by members of the legal sector from across the Tees Valley and raised cash for specialist care services, provided free of charge to patients throughout the local communities of Hartlepool and East Durham.
Mr Mitchell said: “It was with great pleasure that I was able to hand over a cheque to Carol Sennett, the Corporate Business Development Manager for the Hospice.
“These funds will help towards the running costs of the Hospice which exceed £2m each year.
“I would also like to thank Nicola Maiden for all the hard work in organising the dinner and to Northumbrian Water for sponsoring the event.”
Mrs Sennett said: “We were delighted to hear that Phil had chosen the Hospice as his president’s charity. It was a privilege to have been invited to attend the annual dinner as his guest.
“On behalf of our patients and their families, volunteers and staff I would like thank Phil for his nomination.
“The support of the local community and donations like we received at the dinner will help our vital work continue”.
