HARTLEPOOL’S heroic lifeboat volunteers helped to safely rescue a stricken yacht in stormy seas and force eight gales.
The town’s all weather lifeboat was launched on Saturday after the 45ft pleasure vessel from Holland got into trouble in the North Sea, near Whitby.
It’s skipper called the coastguard for help after it lost its steering and suffered engine trouble.
The Hartlepool lifeboat joined a Whitby lifeboat crew to tow the yacht, which was carrying eight men, to the calmer River Tees.
