Lifeboats called to sinking boat

A SINKING boat was saved in a dramatic operation that involved two Hartlepool lifeboats.

The Ocean Pearl, berthed at Hartlepool, got into trouble off the coast of Redcar at around 9am on Saturday.

Both of the town’s lifeboats were sent to the scene and the 21-feet vessel was towed to safety by a passing fishing boat.

HM Coastguard said the Ocean Pearl was carrying three anglers when it started to rapidly take water on board.
