A TEAM of brave personal trainers have literally given themselves a mountain to climb for charity – but it’s all going to help a worthy cause.

Six people from Lifestyle Fitness, which is based in Harbour Walk in Hartlepool, will bid to scale the equivalent of Ben Nevis, which is the highest mountain in the British Isles. But they are doing it with a difference – by doing it on a box step.

And that means a 4,400ft challenge with the team predicting it will take 8,810 steps to complete.

But Lee Robson, the general manager of Lifestyle Fitness in Hartlepool, is confident his team can do it in style.

They can also do it in eight hours and more importantly, he said, it will raise hundreds of pounds for Help For Heroes.

Help For Heroes is a national charity which provides a network of support for wounded servicemen and women, and their families.

It was launched in 2007 to help provide better facilities for British servicemen and women who have been wounded or injured in the line of duty.

Lee explained more about the challenge which lies ahead for his team. Lee said: “On Thursday, June 26, the team will take it in turns to climb Ben Nevis on a box step and that’s 8,810 steps.

“We think it will take us about eight hours and we will be doing it while we are wearing boots, combats and weighted rucksacks.”

The team will take it in ten-minute turns each and the whole charity event will be done in front of shoppers – the team will be stepping out in style in the foyer of the Asda store in Marina Way in Hartlepool.

But the team is full of confidence having already completed a number of challenges in the past.

Lee said: “We did a challenge against Asda for Sport Relief, where we did two hours of cycling. We raised £380 from the Sport Relief challenge and we have set ourselves a target of £500 for this one.”

“The team will also be carrying out their challenge to raise awareness of Armed Forces Day.”

Lee added; “Lifestyle Fitness is a big supporter of community events and we have been over to Asda a few times. They have been very good with
us.”
