Little Corey Iverson has been crowned the winner of the Mail’s Cute Kids competition.
And the news couldn’t have come at a better time for Hartlepool baby Corey – his prize win comes just days before his first birthday, which is on Monday.
Corey’s cute looks have won him and his family a £100 cheque and £50 credit to spend on our photosales website to order copies of his winning shot.
His proud mum Gemma Swift, 29, from Chester Road, said: “I’m over the moon because it’s his birthday on Monday, and his Christening is next Sunday.
“I’ve just ordered him a big Mickey Mouse balloon so the money will come in handy for more presents.”
Gemma, a full-time mum whose partner is Wayne Iverson, a 22-year-old dumper truck driver and groundworker who was recently laid off, added: “We are just really shocked, I’ve had problems with my phone so when the woman from the Mail knocked on my door to tell me Corey had won it was a big surprise. “I had been going to the shop early on a morning to get the Mail to see if his result was in, and when he got into the top 10 I couldn’t believe it, he has done so well.”
Gemma, who is also mum to eight-year-old Brougham Primary School pupil Coban Ferguson said her nana Dot Binns was also “over the moon” that her great-grandson had won and Gemma’s parents Carol and Anthony Swift are “so proud”.
Hundreds of youngsters entered our competition to crown the town’s most gorgeous kids.
Thousands of phone votes were cast as readers eagerly hoped their favourites would walk away with the prize.
