A FUNDRAISING festival of food is set to reach a charity milestone this month.

The Lobster Charity Ball, at Hardwick Hall, in Sedgefield, on Friday, April 26, will see the annual event top £300,000 for local charities.

The first Lobster Festival was held at Hardwick Hall in 2006 and has since supported charities including the Percy Hedley Foundation and Make a Child Smile.

This year’s nominated charity is Daisy Chain, which supports families affected by autism.

John Adamson, managing director of Ramside Estates Group which runs Hardwick Hall, said the total of £300,000 raised was “a tremendous achievement, which we are very proud of.”

Matt Simpson, chief executive of Daisy Chain, said: “We are looking forward to an amazing evening of entertainment and a chance to raise vitally needed funds for the charity.”

Celebrity entertainment on the night includes pop duo Go West, Britain’s Got Talent finalists Jonathan and Charlotte and comical ventriloquist Paul Zerdin, as well as a fashion show from Van Mildert.
