FLOODY HELL: Blackhall's Coast Road on Monday

HARTLEPOOL and East Durham are still affected by the 48-hour deluge as the rain finally appears to be subsiding.

The A689 at Wynyard Village and Dalton Back Lane, near Dalton Piercy, are still closed due to flooding.

Further north the A19 northbound is closed between the A1018 Sunderland turn-off and A690 Durham junction.

A replacement bus service is also running to and from Hartlepool after Northern Rail services were cancelled due to a landslip near the town.

Others affected roads at 9am include:

• The A19 Sheraton exit slip road to the A179 northbound is closed at the A179 junction because of flooding;

• The southbound entry sliproad to the A19 at Easington Colliery is closed, at the A182 Hall Walks;

• The A177 Stockton Road at Sedgefield is closed both ways between the A689 and B1274 Junction Road because of flooding;

• The A19 Fleet Bridge Road, in Billingham, exit slip road is closed northbound at the A139 junction;

• The A1046 Haverton Hill Road in Billingham closed at the A1032 Tees Bridge Approach Road junction, because of flooding;

• The A19 Fleet Bridge Road, in Billingham, exit slip road is closed northbound at the A139 junction;

• New Road, in Billingham, is closed between the A1046 Haverton Hill Road junction and the Mill Lane junction because of flooding;

Today’s meeting at Sedgefield Races has been abandoned because the track is waterlogged.

Further details will appear here throughout the day and buy today’s Hartlepool Mail for full coverage of yesterday’s chaos.
