A birthday treat for fire-brigade mad Jay

A FIRE BRIGADE-mad boy got the best present ever when he celebrated his birthday with a ride in a real-life engine.

Jay Jordan and six friends were whisked around Hartlepool in the bright red wagon as a treat for his seventh birthday on Saturday.

The youngster, who loves everything about the fire brigade, was picked up from his home in the engine and driven to his party in style.

It has been converted inside into a party limousine complete with flashing lights and TV screens.

Mum Vicky Jordan, 34, from the Throston area of Hartlepool, said: "He has been mad about the fire brigade since he was about three.

"He has got toys, outfits, everything and we take him to events where there are fire engines.

"The day was fantastic, he absolutely loved it. He went all round the town including the marina and up as far as the Fens."

Jordan, who goes to Throston Primary School, tucked into pizza at Pizza Hut on Hartlepool marina after an hour-long ride in the engine.

The special limousines are a popular choice for children's events and hen parties.

Jordan was showered with presents on his big day – most of which had a fire theme.

Vicky, married to health and safety officer Michael, 33, added: "He got a fire engine alarm for his bike, a Big Machines Fire Engine DVD and a new fireman hat.

"He just loves everything about it. I will be very shocked if he doesn't become a fireman when he grows up."

But Saturday wasn't the first time Jordan had been in a fire engine, as a family friend works for Cleveland Fire Service and the youngster regularly visits him at Hartlepool's Stranton Station.
