A sparkling performance from Ruff Diamond

A DANCE crew moved a step closer to television fame with a golden performance in an audition.

Ruff Diamond, from Hartlepool, received three gold stars from the judges on the Sky 1 HD show Got To Dance.

Their audition was shown on the second programme of new series which was screened on Sunday.

The judges are JLS superstar Aston Merrygold, Kimberly Wyatt and Ashley Banjo.

Aston told the Hartlepool crew: “I love you guys”, while Kimberly commented: “You can tell you have been putting in the hours, working your butts off and it has absolutely paid off. Let me tell you, that was one of the best auditions that we have seen of this series.”

Ashley told the Ruff Diamond crew: “You’ve found the gem that is your style. These guys are going to cause serious problems on the shortlist, that’s all I’m saying. We have people on the shortlist who are absolutely ridiculous, but you guys are up there with the best so continue to work as hard as you have been because you guys are good.”

The eventual competition winners of the show, hosted by Davina McCall, will win £250,000 in prize money.

Ruff Diamond’s successful audition means they have progressed to the shortlist, which will be whittled down to the final 30 on February 3.

The final 30 will then compete across five live shows.

A public vote will decide the 10 finalists to fight for the coveted prize in front of a 6,000-strong audience at Kensington Olympia on March 17.

The spectacular finale will be available to view on Sky 3D and for the first time when viewers will have the opportunity to vote online free through the Got To Dance website.

Online, they will also be able to tune into the spin off show: Perri and Jordan Let Loose immediately after the main show (www.sky.com/dance).
